Overview
Fassbinder pays homage to his cinematic idol Douglas Sirk in this reinterpretation of classic melodrama 'All That Heaven Allows'. Emmi (Brigitte Mira), a mature widower, is ostracised by her family and friends after she embarks on a relationship with Ali (El Hedi ben Salem) an Arab immigrant worker 20 years her junior. An immensely powerful exploration of social prejudice.
