London Ice Sculpting Festival at Canary Wharf
Overview
The 2013 London Ice Sculpting Festival is the biggest-ever with oodles of ice-related fun taking place across three days throughout Canary Wharf.
At this super-cool, free annual event, talented sculptors from 12 countries will compete against the clock to create chilly artworks from two-metre glistening blocks of ice in a nail-biting competition.
Anyone over the age of 12 can grab a chisel and learn the basic techniques of ice sculpting by signing up to one of many free masterclasses, available on a first-come first-served basis.
New for 2013 is the Graffiti Wall where adults can release their inner Banksy on a specially constructed ice wall. There's also a Snowpit where people of all ages can enjoy making snowballs, snowmen or snow castles.
Visitors can also try out their strategic chess moves on a large, outdoor Ice Chess board which features delicately crafted ice pieces.
