Conservation Uncovered at The British Library

Overview

Visit the 'Conservation Uncovered' exhibition to discover the methods behind book and sound conservation and understand how the life of collection items - some thousands of years old, some contemporary - can be prolonged. This small exhibition also gives visitors an insight into how books can deteriorate, and the range of solutions available to preserve them for the future. This work uses modern technologies and considerable knowledge of material science - alongside centuries old craft skills. Sound restoration techniques are also explained.
