A Soul Cabaret: Nat Luurtsema + Vis The Spoon + Glenn Guest + The Swang Effect at 93 Feet East
Overview
Heart & Lung Unit's Christmas Knees-Up. Your favorite recession busting mid-week miscellany returns with good clean dirty fun. Midweek merrymaking via comedy, rhymes and killer live music. It`s Christmas and they're definitely in the mood for a party. The best unsigned bands, and the most piss-your-strides-funny comics, all for just 5 quid, with all profits going to Broadway Homeless Charity.
\nNat Luurtsema comes fresh from her appearances on BBC 3`s `Live at the Electric` & returning to the HLU stage. `Disgustingly talented`, so say the Guardian. That ain`t hype. She is disgusting. And very, very talented. (and not disgusting). Vis The Spoon: His website describes him as a poet, musician, compere & promoter. We`d describe him as one of London`s greatest unsung institutions. Verbally dexterous punk poet, spitting rhymes like a tommy gun on speed. Anarchic, unpredictable, wildly hilarious - He is Vis the Spoon. Glenn Guest: Our host, compere & Northerner in residence, but he`s so much more in his sack for you tonight. He`s only gone & written a book & it`s available now to download. He`ll be giving you a preview as well as breaking out some of the old classics. Uncut gutter filth never sounded so good. The Swang Effect: Newly, but perfectly formed. The Swang Effect take their name from a controversial acid trip experiment in 1968. No wonder then that their sound mixes traces of the The Buzzcocks,The Clash, Zounds, and Primal Scream with DJ Shadow-influenced electronica. Immerse yourself in their swaggering, fragmented dance textures and boisterous rock & roll.
\nEdd Garratt London based singer-songwriter with a soulfull voice & sublime guitar skills. He`s been likened to Jeff Buckey & Ryan Adams. And though he`s neither American nor deceasesd, once you hear him you`ll agree he`s worthy of the comparisons.
