Cheer Boys Cheer at BFI Southbank
Overview
Walter Forde's comedy. Venerable family brewery Greenleaf finds itself under threat from monopolistic titan Ironside. But with an unlikely ally in Ironside’s lovelorn scion, plucky little Greenleaf mounts a fightback. Predating 'Passport to Pimlico' by a decade, this half-forgotten film was a premonition of Ealing delights to come, in its evocation of community, gently progressive values and ‘small vs big’ dynamic.
