Stereophonics at Troxy
Overview
The Sterophonics have risen to the ranks to form part of British indie rock history, with awards and chart topping singles under their belts. With gutsy lyrics and Kelly Jones’ gravel vocals they stood out. Formed in 1992, schoolmates Kelly Jones, Richard Jones and Stuart Cable practised their art in performances at the working men's clubs of South Wales. Jones’ muse was his hometown, Cwmaman and it was the village's dark underbelly that inspired the songs that would make up the band's earliest recordings. Their debut album Word Gets Around spawned the successful breakthrough single, Local Boy In The Photograph in 1996. The following year saw the band play 100 live dates, and release more successful albums, selling over nine million worldwide.
