An evening with Samuel Foote, one-legged comedy superstar of the Georgian theatre, crime writer and friend of Dr Johnson. Ian Kelly's newly published biography of Samuel Foote, Mr Foote's Other Leg, addresses issues of crime, comedy and notoriety in Dr Johnson's London through the person of Samuel Foote, the world's first celebrity impressionist, drag artist, one of the most successful early crime writers, and eventually patentee of the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.
