Overview

Stephen Richard Hackett is best known as the guitarist of Genesis, despite having left the band in 1977. That must be a tad galling - though if he will pop back for Genesis reunion concerts, he only has himself to blame. Actually, he co-founded a band called GTR with fellow guitarist Steve Howe, of Yes and Asia fame. The group released a self-titled album in 1986 that peaked at 11 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, and spawned the Top 20 single 'When the Heart Rules the Mind'. As a solo artist he's toured and turned out albums relentlessly, taking in a multitude of styles from world music to classical. But sometimes you just can't escape the past. In 2010 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - as a member of Genesis.
