1984 at Fairfield Halls and Ashcroft Theatre
Overview
A dramatisation of George Orwell's seminal novel '1984'. A life-long member of the Outer Party, Winston Smith is a secret rebel who dares to dream of defiance. His desires are simple: freedom to think, freedom to feel, freedom to love. Determined to reach beyond the dull and dreary present Winston’s journey leads us through the perils of ‘thoughtcrime’, the boundaries of conformity, and into the arms of the Inner Party. A biting and boundary-pushing allegory, Orwell’s chilling and cautionary tale is brought to life in all its multimedia glory as the omnipresent Big Brother takes hold of the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre.
