Autumn in Focus Display: Francesco Geminiani (1687-1762) at The Foundling Museum
Overview
Italian composer, violinist and music theorist Francesco Geminiani was considered by contemporaries to be the equal of Handel and Corelli. Geminiani was a virtuoso violinist and published several important treatises, including The Art of Playing the Violin. This display marks the 250th anniversary of his death and includes the Museum’s portrait of Geminiani, manuscripts and printed music exhibited here for the first time.
