Reel Victorians: A Film-Based Event for KS2 Pupils at BFI Southbank
Overview
This event offers a unique opportunity for teachers and pupils to explore history through the lens of Victorian film, bringing life to this world through the faces and places shown on the screen. There will be opportunities to link activities to subjects across the curriculum as well as using moving image to explore new ways of thinking about historical accuracy and developing critical thinking. The morning session will focus on clips and short films covering a range of activities and subjects including leisure, school, work and transport plus a glimpse of Queen Victoria at home with her family. There will be activities connected to the films and a resource pack for the teachers to use at school. In the afternoon, there will be an introduced screening of The Railway Children.
