Space, Then and Now: A Science and Literacy Event for KS2 at BFI Southbank
Overview
This event is designed to complement a screening of the 60-minute IMAX film: Space Station. After seeing the film at the BFI IMAX in Waterloo, pupils and teachers will come to BFI Southbank (a 5-minute walk) for a clip-based presentation using documentary material and fiction films, some from the BFI National Archive’s extensive collection. These will look at the part science has played in the development of space exploration and travel and the excitement it has created through the ages. Integral to this is an emphasis on the importance of international collaboration. This session will provide learners with an opportunity to consider a variety of media sources and the different forms of language they employ. A teachers’ pack will also be provided.
