Rating Movies - Cutting and Classifying Films for KS2 at BFI Southbank
Overview
Every film released in the UK needs a certificate. Here’s a chance for your class to meet BBFC examiners, watch clips, trailers and short films and explore the topic of age ratings. Looking at recent releases and classic kids’ films, the audience can discuss how they would classify films and give their views to a BBFC examiner. You’ll find out how and why films get rated, what works are cut and how the BBFC thinks about child viewers, and their parents. This is an interactive workshop, generating voting and debate, allowing participants to talk about recent releases and classic films, formulating their own views and arguments. Resources for teachers are available on the BBFC.
