This stimulating, interactive session will introduce KS2 pupils to studying advertising. Children will view examples of advertising from the Media Smart resources and use these to discuss key themes such as persuasive language, types and purposes of advertisements, target audiences and creating appeal. They will also be introduced to the important moving image concepts of camera and sound and how these contribute to the meaning of a television advertisement. The session will provide pupils with a framework for looking at advertising which can be applied to all commercial communications and will encourage critical thinking skills. It is an ideal springboard for literacy activities.
