Capturing the Shadows at London Film Museum Covent Garden

Overview

After 120 years, celluloid is dying away as a production and exhibition medium, as chemical photography gives way to digital imaging. At this major turning point, a new display 'Capturing the Shadows' provides a peep at the old established media: shadow theatre and the optical lantern, photography, and kinetic animation. They provided a bridge to the invention of cinematography as the19th century gave way to the 20th.
