2013 Barnes Music Festival at St Mary's Church Barnes

Next year sees the centenary of composer Gustav Holst living in Barnes from 1908 to 1913 and plans are in hand to celebrate with the inaugural Barnes Music Festival. The Barnes Music Society, the Barnes Choir and the Friends of St Mary’s Barnes have come together with the support of the Barnes Community Association to put on a weeklong series of musical events. Within the theme of Holst and the English Tradition events include orchestral pieces, choral works, film and jazz performances, including world premieres of new works, featuring internationally known artists and local groups.
