Sailors from India, known as Lascars, were essential crew for transporting tea and other commodities as well as being the forerunners of today's Bangladeshi community in London. Meet and question Abdul Miah and discover why he left Calcutta, his life and skills on board ship as well as his experiences of London in the 1890s. Learning is extended by resources and activities which explore the connections between the British Empire, trade and migrant workers in the port of London.
