Foundation Astrophysics at Royal Observatory Greenwich
Overview
The foundation astrophysics programme provides people with the opportunity to study a number of topics in astronomy at foundation degree level, without the costs associated with accreditation or the pressure of examinations. These courses require knowledge of basic science and algebra. While these courses are not formally accredited, students are assessed through coursework and receive certificates of achievement from the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, on the completion of each module, with the award of an advanced certificate on completion of all six modules. Though not formally linked to any astronomy correspondence courses, these modules provide excellent support for distance learning courses covering similar topics. The six ten-week modules do not have to be studied in any particular order.
