The Cripple of Inishmaan at the Noel Coward Theatre
Overview
Daniel Radcliffe stars as Billy in Michael Grandage's revival of The Cripple Of Inishmaan, the tale of a young man desperate to break away from the tedium of daily life.
Located on the remote island of Inishmaan off the west coast of Ireland, Martin McDonagh's dark comedy The charts the story of the orphaned cripple Billy, who hears about a Hollywood film being made on the neighbouring island of Inishmore and yearns to trade in his monotonous life for a part in the film.
Best known for the Harry Potter films, The Cripple Of Inishmaan marks Daniel Radcliffe's return to the London stage for the first time since his performance in Equus at the Gielgud Theatre in 2007.
Martin McDonagh's comic masterpiece examines an ordinary coming-of-age in extraordinary circumstances. The Cripple of Inishmaan confirms McDonagh's position as one of the most original Irish voices to emerge in the second half of the 20th century. This is the first major London revival of the play since its premiere at the National Theatre in 1996.
