Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from West Side Story; Korngold: Violin Concerto in D, Op.35; Rachmaninov: Symphonic Dances. Not quite a night at the movies, but this concert of American-inspired music borrows much from Hollywood and Broadway from the 1930s to the 1950s.
\nHear a performance of Bernstein's popular 'Symphonic Dances', much more than a medley of music from his hit show, 'West Side Story'. This is followed by The Violin Concerto, which marked Korngold's return to mainstream composing. Buried in the music are themes from many of his film compositions, including 'The Prince and the Pauper'.
