The Bodyguard at the Adelphi Theatre

Tony and Grammy Award-winner Heather Headley steps into Whitney Houston's shoes for this stage adaptation of the hugely successful film, The Bodyguard.

The Bodyguard, based on the smash hit film which starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, will premiere in London's west end this autumn starring Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen.

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer (Owen), is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron (Headley) from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don't expect is to fall in love.

The cast of The Bodyguard is led by the Trinidad-born Headley, who originated the role of Nala in The Lion King on Broadway and won a Tony Award for her performance in the title role of Aida. Also a recording artist, Headley's third album, Audience Of One, won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.

Headley is joined in The Bodyguard by British actor Lloyd Owen, whose London credits include Loyalty (Hampstead theatre), Blood And Gifts (National Theatre), The York Realist (Royal Court) and Julius Caesar (Young Vic). His screen credits include Monarch Of The Glen, Apollo 18 and Miss Potter.
