BBC Symphony Orchestra: Janacek, Hind, Korsakov at Barbican Hall
Overview
BBC Symphony Orchestra with works by Janacek, Hind and Rimsky-Korsakov. Tales from the stage underpin an imaginative programme, featuring a newly-arranged suite from Janá?ek's zestful drama of woodland life The Cunning Little Vixen and Rimsky-Korsakov's glittering orchestral evocation of scenes from the Arabian Nights, in which the lead violinist plays the seductive Princess Scheherazade herself. Composer Rolf Hind has a reputation for throwing fresh light on all he touches, and this is his first major work for accordion, inspired by the irrepressible virtuoso James Crabb.
