A Family in Wartime gives visitors the chance to step back in time to the Second World War and experience life on the Home Front, through the eyes of one London family, the Allpress’. The display explores the lives of William and Alice Allpress and their 10 children and what life in London was like during the war. It looks at their experiences of evacuation, the Blitz and D-Day mirror many aspects of the lives of a whole generation of British people during the Second World War. The exhibition features interactive exhibits, photographs, recorded interviews with the family, archive film footage, paintings, personal documents and an intricate model of the Allpress family home.
