Meltdown Festival at Southbank Centre
Overview
This annual festival allows an internationally famous artist to curate a festival of their work and inspirations.
The 20th Meltdown Festival in 2013 will see artist Yoko Ono take over the Southbank Centre for a 12-day exploration of her interests, influences and passions.
Yoko Ono's Meltdown will be dedicated to music across all genres, environmentalism, feminism and peace. She has performed at previous Meltdowns in 2005 (Patti Smith's Meltdown) and 2009 (Ornette Coleman's Meltdown).
On this year's line-up is Boy George, Marianne Faithfull, Siouxsie, Patti Smith and a rare performance by the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band.
Previous curators have included David Bowie, Massive Attack and Morrissey, and the 2012 festival presented a superb opportunity to get under the skin of the influential Antony Hegarty.
Meltdown is famous for its artist-led programming, experimental line-ups and memorable performances.
