BBC Proms 2013

Overview

The greatest classical music festival on earth returns to London's Royal Albert Hall. It's time for the Proms!

This year's Proms is comprised of 92 concerts, including the famous Last Night performances. This year's highlights include the first ever complete Wagner Ring Circle at the Proms in one summer; Marin Alsop as the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the Proms; and a Doctor Who Prom to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary.

The full programme is available on the BBC's website.

What are the Proms?

"Proms" is short for Promenade concert: informal and inexpensive concerts where Promenaders ("Prommers") pay just £5 for a ticket. Up to 900 Prommers can stand in the central Arena at London's Royal Albert Hall, and a further 500 can stand, sit or recline in the Gallery.
