A Day Out Along Regent's Canal

Regent's Canal is a great place to go for a mix of quirky shops and galleries, an expansive park and some excellent bars and pubs.

Spend the Morning in London's Little Venice

Begin your day at Little Venice. This hidden oasis near Paddington is where the Grand Union Canal meets Regent's Canal.
Visit the Cascade Floating Art Gallery which hosts regularly changing exhibitions. It’s free of charge and open to the public every weekend. Then stop for a drink at the lovely Warwick Castle pub.

Next, walk along the Little Venice towpath to Regent's Park. If you really want to relax you can take a scenic narrowboat to the London Zoo stop. The London Waterbus Company service runs every hour, and every half hour, on weekends and departs from Warwick Avenue.

Lunch in Leafy Regent's Park

Spend some time wandering around in the beautiful Regent's Park. Designed in 1811 by renowned architect John Nash, the park includes stunning rose gardens and a summer open air theatre.

Soak up the scenery and, if the weather’s good, take a picnic. Otherwise, there’s a choice of cafes and a restaurant. You can even go boating on the lake!

Afternoon in Crazy Camden

Continue walking along the towpath, or get back on a boat down to Camden Lock.

Camden is a must see for any first time visitors to London. Browse art and craft stalls in the Camden Lock Market; quirky jewellery and gifts in the West Yard, and everything from piercing accessories and fluorescent clubbing gear to antique furniture in Stables Market. Camden was hit by fire in February, which affected the Canal Market. The other markets, like the Stables and the Lock Market remain open.

Sink a Drink on Inverness Street

Just off Camden High Street, Inverness Street is home to a lovely row of bars, vinyl stores and restaurants. Bar Solo offers a tasty menu or for something more exotic dine at Made in Brazil.

The Good Mixer on the corner is a popular pub with punters spilling out onto the pavement at weekends. Rumour has it this was a favourite drinking spot of Britpop rivals Blur and Oasis during their 1990s heydays.

Carry On In King's Cross

Later, venture down to King's Cross and check out the Big Chill House. With a huge outdoor area, large bar and chill out lodge-style basement, it aims to provide a bit of escapism in the centre of town.
