A trip along the Thames is like looking at London's family photograph album. You see the young and the old, the churches and the offices, the smart and the grungy. The boat trip from the Embankment to Greenwich is one of the best in the world and there's always something new to see.
When you arrive in Greenwich, a World Heritage Site, there are many fascinating attractions to discover, such as the Royal Observatory and Planetarium. If you fancy a drink and a bite to eat, head up the hill to the Greenwich Union pub.

For a real hoot, jump aboard the London Duck Tour; this marvellous amphibious motor can travel on land and water.
Not many people realise that London is tied together by canals. They're not always immediately visible, which makes them lovely and peaceful. The canal trip from Little Venice is beautiful – talk about how the other half live! You'll wind up at Camden, which is perfect for visiting the area's many markets.
If you like walking, you should book yourself on an organised tour on foot. A firm favourite with locals and visitors is the Jack The Ripper Tour. Fans of London's darker, macabre side should also head to the London Dungeon for a particularly gruesome treat. A little tip – if you can, avoid visiting the dungeon during the school holidays when the queues are huge.
For a does of fresh air, head to Wimbledon. It's lovely to wander round leafy Wimbledon Common. Don't miss the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum too.
