The Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn is a fantastic little venue. Alongside its varied theatre programme, there's a cinema and a great café too. Another fringe favourite is the Hackney Empire. After a performance, those in the know head down to Dalston for some Vietnamese food – it's the best in London!

If you love dance, treat yourself to a night out at Sadler's Wells. The Laban Centre in Deptford is also worth a visit. It's innovative programme is exciting and thought provoking. It's also got a welcoming bar with a darn fine wine list.
If you love the unconventional, venture over to St John's Smith Square. It's not just a concert hall, it's one of the loveliest examples of English Baroque architecture in London, and attracts some of the world's finest classical music, artists and performers.
For something a little less sedate, we highly recommend the wonderful new 02 Arena. If you're in the mood for anything from divas to dad rock, you'll love this amazing venue. A top tip is to take a boat trip back into central London after the show – the views from the river at night are stunning.

No theatrical visit to London is complete without a visit to the great bard. Catch a matinee at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. A good dose of Shakespeare often works up a thirst – if you're a fan of real ale, take a stroll along the South Bank as there are some lovely pubs in the area. Brew Wharf and The Bridge House are 2 favourites.
Talking of hanging out, The Richmond Theatre is a real gem. Many of their plays transfer to the West End and you can't beat it for a traditional English theatre experience. Get there early for a drink on the balcony overlooking the lovely Richmond green.
