For great views, try the Oxo Tower. The restaurant's fabulous but expensive, the brasserie less so, and we recommend a mojito or a glass of Sancerre at the bar facing the window. You simply can't beat the view. For food, if you don't want to splash out on the mouth-watering culinary delights of Oxo, pop round the corner to the brilliant Anchor & Hope for the best of British gastro pub grub.
What's more British than teatime? Some hotels offer wonderful high-tea like Browns and The Ritz. Not only does tea please – it sustains! It's the perfect accompaniment to a day's shopping or sightseeing. London's full of hidden enclaves and we love the Westbourne Grove area of W11. It's not busy because it's slightly tucked away, but it's packed with great shops and has some wonderful cafés and restaurants.
If you like people-watching, check out a few of London's less well-known areas. Head to Dulwich for a wonderful day out.
It's pretty, has lots of great shops, the lovely
Dulwich Park, the beautiful
Dulwich Picture Gallery and tons of yummy eateries!
Alternatively, try Hackney. It's certainly more urban, but if you go to Angel Tube station and pick up the Grand Union Canal, you can walk to the sublime Bistroteque. Hidden away in E2, you'll find these elegant dinning rooms packed with London's cool and beautiful people, tucking into huge plates of delicious French food.

Or you could try this year's big movers and shakers in the restaurant world. Acorn House is London's first truly eco-friendly restaurant – the food is ethical and absolutely delicious. Down the road in the city is one of the capital's best reasons to dress up, Kenza: perfect for Lebanese mezze, Moroccan tagines and a spot of belly dancing.
