Would be worth it if it was free
Went to the Clink because it was cheap (£5.00 a ticket). It took 40minutes to go around. It was an extemely small 'museum' with not a lot to look at, but a lot to read on the walls. Some facts were very interesting, and you couldn't believe what went on back in the day, but a lot of it was a load a gabble and wasn't interesting to read OR anything to do with the clink. Wouldn't recommend this for children as it's just reading in a small celler almost.
It's ok to visit the clink if your passing by, have 45minutes to spare, and don't mind spending £5.00 on a couple of good facts.
A great, educational visit AND cheap for London
The saying "thrown in the clink" is universal i hear and read it everywhere, while traveling around london with my family i found the source of this phrase..."the clink prison" a museum dedicated to medieval crime and punishment and one of the most notoriuos of all london prsions! While the museum is small it houses huge amounts of infomation and the kids loved the fact they could touch and play with all the exhibits, it makes a real change from the in your face attractions that seem to be all over the place these days. my eledest was taken aback by the gruesome stories and facts and my little ones were just thrilled they could "chop my head off at the end" you can buy a history guide which for 2 pounds gives you a welath of knowledge and loads of great picture for the kids home work. There were a few disgruntled customers who thought it was not all it was cracked up to be but i think they must have thought it was a themepark...ahah. we got in on the 12 pound family ticket and had 45 minutes of fun for the whole family. It taakes some imagination but with lovely infomative staff and the right attitude i do not see how anyone could complain about this gem right next to the thames. Worth checking out.
Appalling tourist trap
I find it embarrassing as a Londoner to have such a hopeless 'museum' in our city. Dull, uninformative and pointless. The only saving grace is it is very small so it is mercifully fast. Save your money and go to one of the real museums (Imperial War Museum is a good example and it's free)
If I could give it no stars I would.
As a group, we wanted to visit what we thought 'unknown museum' turns out, it was just 'unpopular'
What a rip off! Nearly £30! For a 15min wander round four rooms. I don't know why it's even near the top London destinations and would advise anyone interested, to stay away from this uninteresting waste of money.
I certainly wont be recommending it. Spend your money in the gift shop of a free museum with decent displays and enjoyment.
Good little museum
THis place is interesting fullof facinating information about prisons. This place might not be everyones cup of tea but still very enjoyable.
I will say some of the items in the place are truly horrible, The Boot a tool for removing the foot is well worth seeing.
Go and have a look and draw your own judgement. I enjoyed.
