Stayed for two nights to attend an event in town, so I picked the hotel mainly for its location.

Pros:

1. Good location in close proximity to gatwick and road links.

2. Room was good value (if the price went up during peak times would not be worth it).

3. Clean.

Cons:

1. The hotel charged 'luxury hotel' prices for drinks and food.

2. Car park costs extra even if you are staying at the hotel (L5 a night).

3. Gym is miniscule.

4. Staff seemed very depressed and generally unfriendly. They should be put on suicide watch.

Conclusion:

A tolerable stay considering the above but I would look to stay somewhere else if I had to visit the area again. Usually I couldn't care less about the staff's attitude but the staff at this hotel do have a bad attitude and tend to leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.

We arrived at the ramada plaza on the 4th dec before a morning flight from the south termanal to barbados on the 5th were we would be joining a cruise for 15 nights . we booked an execitive room as it had earley check in 12 pm and as it was the start of our holiday it would make it a bit special after travelling four hours to gatwick and upon entering the the hotel at 12.20 pm it all looks pretty impresive we went to check in and thats were it all falls apart a bit .Firstley we were told our rrom wasnt ready and to take a seat in the bar area 10 mins later the room was ready great and then i enquired about the swimming pool to be told it was out of use now i know this isnt the be all and end all but why advertise such facilites if there not avalibale anway moving on to the room execitive room my eye the only thing exicitive is the price L150.00 a nite with no breakfast a half stocked tea coffee making stand a hair dryer that didnt work and a toilet that didnt flush plus a suppose a small thing only one towel for two of us .The maintenace guy came and repaired the toilet which i think he has done may times before as it took him 2 minuites and guess what 10 minutes later it broke again this was now geting boring so i decided to leave it and reported it on checking out to which the reply was oh well your leaving now anyway .On the plus side the food was very nice room service was speedy the usall high cost but i expect this due to the relation of hotels near airports ect and dont my paying a premium ,what i do mind is paying a premium and getting below par service which at this hotel is very impersonal grotty rooms and facilites they sell you when you book and dont deliver .All in all this is a typical hotel where they get your money and dont care afterwards thanks as i will be traverling to gatwick again in the near future you wont be getting my buissness again my advice is try somewhere else as theres plenty of choice for less or maybe more just dont waste your money on this brand of hotel ....

We stayed at this property for an overnight stop before we headed to St. Lucia for our wedding and honeymoon. The package included 2 weeks parking.

The hotel itself is fine - the rooms are pretty standard and the food at the restaurant was nice enough - if not a bit pricey for what it was.

One thing I would say is that the breakfast doesn't start until 7am (and this was a weekday) which I found strange considering that the hotel is an airport / business hotel. You couldn't even get continental breakfast delivered to your room before 8am.

The reception service was a joke though. We missed a bus to the airport due to the two gentlemen messing about with our bill and credit cards they couldnt get it right and then they charged us more when we were out of the UK and didn't even had the courtesy to tell us - either by phone or post.

However, it appeared we were misled on about 3 occasions by Ramada employees. My work paid for our room and parking (or tried to) and booked the room on my behalf. Obviously the card is used as a guarantee and it isnt charged until the day of the booking. My company then rang and asked if that card could be charged and was told it would be and changed it on the system.

I then rang and checked this had been set up and was told it was.

I then asked when we checked in and was advised it had been. I then offered over my credit card for extras.

When we checked out they tried to charge my card for everything - I explained and after 40 minutes they corrected it.

When I returned to the UK I had been charged for the full amount after my stay had been completed without notification or receipt.

When I contacted the hotel - they told me that my works card could never had been charged and I was misled all along with no apology.

So - I wont be using this chain again - Previously I have stayed in the Hilton Gatwick and the Sofitel and I'll go back there!

I stayed here as an overnight in Crawley. Brilliant for the airport. The check in process was simple and the staff were pleasant, the room was clean, and was an excellent size.

I didn't eat at the hotel, apart from breakfast, which was average at best.

Overall, this was an unremarkable stay, the plaza isn't a bad hotel at all, but I wasn't wowed. For the price, I'm not convinced that the hotel is a good value proposition.
