Chocoholics' Weekend

An addiction we think should be treated with respect, and have its own 12-step programme that begins and ends with 1 rule: make sure you're never more than 12 steps away from some form of chocolate.

In the Lap of the Gods

The Incas discovered chocolate and called it the "food of the gods." Chocolate is, therefore, one of the holiest of foods, and deserves to be given at least a weekend of devotion. For those who wish to indulge, London is ready and waiting to provide some deep and meaningful moments between you and your favourite food.

Fall in Chocolate

Not only is the Courthouse Hotel Kempinski a gorgeous place to stay, it also offers products and wisdom from the spa treatments of Karin Herzog – choccy treats include chocolate facials, body treatments, manicures and pedicures.

Apparently Queen Elizabeth 1 became Britain's first official chocoholic when she introduced the good stuff to the nation back in 1540. At that time, St James's Palace was the official residence of the sovereign. Chocoholic historians who wish to be near the Virgin Queen's home could stay at the Cavendish London or the Hilton on Trafalgar Square.

Friday Night

Heal a Broken Heart with Chocolate

Suffering from a broken heart? Indulge in the "Heartbreak Healer" at the The Spa at Chancery Court, where they use chocolate as a holistic remedy to ease a painful break up and cure a broken heart.

Originating from the ancient Mayan culture, the belief that chocolate imparts spiritual wisdom, boosts energy levels and relaxes the mind after the end of a relationship has been captured with the use of chocolate essence and a chocolate aura spray. The "Heartbreak Healer" is available during March 2008 at the Renaissance Chancery Court, with a bespoke Chocolate Martini. You'll feel better in no time.

Perfection in a Glass

Yes alcohol and chocolate – perfection in a glass. It could be a Smartini, a Bar Chocolate Iced Tea or a good old fashioned Chocolate Martini – all freshly mixed and available at Bar Chocolate in Soho. Afterwards, why not enjoy dinner at the gorgeous, grand institution of fine dinning that is Langan's. The culinary highlight here is a little something they call "Mrs. Langan's Chocolate Pudding."

Saturday Morning

Food for Thought

What better present to oneself than the gift of knowledge? The Cookery School on Little Portland Street run "Fun with Chocolate" days that teach the uninitiated how to roll truffles, prepare a ganache, and create a delicate nut cluster.

At the end of class, pupils are invited to sit back and enjoy their scrumptious creations with a cup of strong Arabica coffee. This glorious combination is pretty much guaranteed to raise energy levels, so why not take a central London walking tour around what we consider to be a few of London's chocolate shrines?

Saturday Afternoon

Choc of the Walk

Start on Marylebone High Street at the sublime Rococo – where you can also take in the cakey delights of Patisserie Valerie and De Gustibus. You could take a detour to Selfridges Food Hall, but we strongly recommend heading down to Regent Street to Godiva and Thorntons and then onto paradise – or its more common name, Fortnum & Mason.

Alternatively how about a Chocolate Ecstasy Tour? This organised walk will introduce you to the finest chocolate shops, refresh you with a scrummy hot chocolate drink, offer massive discounts on chocolate treats and provide fascinating, informative chats on... you've guessed it, chocolate!

Saturday Night

Mole!

No, not a small short-sighted creature with big paws, but a glorious, savoury Mexican sauce that uses chilli, ground nuts, spices and our favourite ingredient in the world. Mexican food is growing in popularity in London – and at the moment the hottest locations for the hottest choclatey mole sauces are Mestizo, Mercado, or Wahaca in Covent Garden.

Sunday Morning

Unwind

Unwind on a Sunday with a Chocolate Indulgence Day at the swanky Citypoint Club. This could involve using the gym, swimming pool and squash courts – but should definitely include a facial and Chocolate Body Treatment.

If you're feeling a bit peckish, the Neuhaus Chocolate Café, just off Sloane Square, should sort out those hunger-pangs. Enjoy a fabulous range of chocolate drinks, biscuits and fresh gourmet coffee with the best Belgian chocolates available this side of Brussels.

Sunday Afternoon

Chocoholic Shopaholic

For your final afternoon, why not take your lovely, sweet-smelling self to Harrods. Choose from a truly mouth-watering array of hand-made, mass-produced, personalised, gold-plated, hand-sculpted, gorgeous, glorious chocolate in London's most luxurious store.

You could even get some chocolate to take back as souvenirs for your friends – or you could just keep it all for yourself!
