Simpson's-in-the-Strand

Saturday evening in Simpson was an enjoyable evening out. We were late and the restaurant called to check we were still coming- nice touch. The food was fine, not exceptional but OK for the price. I thought the wines were expensive- the cheapest bottles were around £25-30 which is high for some low end Chilean plonk. They should really have a reasonable house wine at around £20. Otherwise, it was a pleasant evening and I will no doubt go back.

Dined at Simpsons in the Strand on Tuesday evening to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. If you want to experience English fine dining, then this is the place to go. The signature dish of Roast Beef and Yorkshire pud was delicious. It arrived at our table on the famous trolley, and carved with great aplomb. Felt happy, relaxed, excellent surroundings great pianist. Quite expensive. One chap was in jeans which was disappionting to see, given we had made an effort. Waiters attentive.

What an amazing place Simpsons on the Strand is. Truly the best roast beef in town. The staff were wonderful and attentive. Just a superb way to start the evening. I didn't want to leave.
