Adagiata sulle sponde del Tamigi, questa galleria è nota come la grande cattedrale di Londra dell'arte moderna internazionale, in origine era una centrale elettrica. All'interno della Tate Modern vengono allestite mostre temporanee di artisti di spicco come Rachel Whiteread, Frida Kahlo, Martin Kippenberger, Mark Rothko e Kandinsky. E grazie alla sua ubicazione sul lungofiume, i ristoranti della galleria offrono splendide viste sul Tamigi.

Me la ricordo niente male

Sono un po' sorpresa dalle recensioni negative, perché io ne ho un ricordo piacevole... non mi sono goduta molto la visita ed ho dovuto sbrigarmi perché ero con il mio moroso culturofobo, ma ricordo...

Sono un po' sorpresa dalle recensioni negative, perché io ne ho un ricordo piacevole... non mi sono goduta molto la visita ed ho dovuto sbrigarmi perché ero con il mio moroso culturofobo, ma ricordo una bella mostra su Dalì ed un'altra interessante di un'artista giapponese. Certo non é paragonabile a musei come il Pompidou di Parigi, molte correnti erano giusto accennate, ma nel complesso mi é piaciuta, considerando anche l'ormai rara componente dell'ingresso gratuito!

Sinceramente mi aspettavo qualcosa di meglio. Non regge il confronto con il british e la national gallery. Troppe istallazioni contemporanee, a volte prive di senso, e poche sale(credo 3-4)dedicate a figure come boccioni, balla, picasso, dalì, kandiskj, giacometti, fontana,....i veri padri dell'arte contemporanea.insomma non si può, secondo me, notare la grossa differenza che esiste tra questa nuova arte e quella per così dire un pò più tradizionale( e definire così il cubismo è alquanto sorprendente).

This definitely isn't for everyone, but I was a little skeptical about modern art and I loved it. There are some weird things on display, such as the vacuum cleaners, but there are many beautiful and wacky works by Picasso, Van Gough, Andy Worhol, Jackson Pollock and others. Admission is free, except for the temporary exhibits, and you can cover the whole place within a day. But please, don't bring children. There were some families visiting at the same time I was, and the kids won't be able to appreciate or understand it - they'll just get restless and distub other guests.

A pretty boring and uninspired collection. Perhaps the exhibitions for which you had to pay an entrance fee would have been more interesting, but certainly not the free ones. The toilets were also...

A pretty boring and uninspired collection. Perhaps the exhibitions for which you had to pay an entrance fee would have been more interesting, but certainly not the free ones. The toilets were also pretty bad which I often think reflects the whole building. The main cafe was particularly expensive, perhaps because the main building is free. If the exhibitions were alot better, I think most people would be happy to pay an entrance fee. Overall, give it a miss.

I find Tate Modern the best modern art museum in the world! I love the permanent collection - which changes quite regularly - as well as the exhibitions which are always extremely interesting even if you don't necessarily understand all of it. The restaurants and libraries are also very pleasant. An absolute must!
