Some of my sisters and I stopped in at Harrods because two of the sisters had never been to London or Harrods. We did a little shopping (very expensive) and then took a rest at the little coffee shop. The cappacino was very good and they write "Harrods" on it with cocoa! See picture.

Then we went to the oyster bar where we each wanted an oyster. The guy behind the counter made fun of us and pretended he couldn't speak english. We ended up having a great time with him and his partner in crime (see picture) and they ended up not charging us for the oysters.

Harrods is a must see even if it's to walk through and walk out.

Went to Harrods to check out the food halls. They are very upscale and beautiful, with a huge variety of almost everything. I didn't know what to check out first! I ended up bringing home some lemon curd for a souvenir. But just make sure you don't take any pictures...I was amazed at the beautiful chocolate creatings and they scolded me for taking pictures, lest anyone copy their designs?

We also went to have afternoon tea. I don't remember how much it cost, but it was not too expensive for the full set...sandwiches, pastries, and of course tea...and sure was delicious and filled you up!

One more thing...their restrooms are pretty posh!

If you go to London, you have to go to Harrod's. You don't have to like it, but you have to go there. Yes, prices are insane but the place has charm and charisma and the souvenirs with the brand 'Harrods' on them will really impress the folks back home.

Never goto Harrods around Christmas! We went two days before Christmas and the day after and I can tell you it was extremely crowded. So crowded that you could not even look at items. It was a mad house of people just trying to get from one room to the other. Skip it around Christmas!

I wasn't that impressed with Harrod's to be honest. It had the same stuff in it as any other large department store around the world. I remember as a child the toy department being something to orr about with the most unique and flash toys anywhere. Now I saw stuff that I can get at my local Warehouse Store.

The Food Hall is now the only thing to set it apart from other department stores- it is glorious, worth spending time in.

The Egyptian themed escalator area delighted my children, but to me was a little airy and spooky when you realize that the face on the sphynx's is the owners. Freaky in a very narcissistic way!

But the live opera singer sounds fantastic.

By the way, do not wear your backpack in there. You will get approached by security and asked to take it of. It either looks too shabby or it is related to the backpack bombing of the London subway. I'm not sure which, probably both.
