Transports en commun : Swiss Cottage - Leave Swiss Cottage tube by exit 2 and at the top of hte stairs turn to face the main road. You will see College Crescent going up to your right. Palmers Lodge is 100 yards up Collge Crescent on the left hand side.
Par la route : A41 - The A41 can be accessed via the M1, A1 & M25. Once on the A41 follow it towards Central London until you pass Finchley Road tube station. Exit left just before Swiss Cottage pub and follow College Crescent round to Palmers Lodge at number 40.

J'étais septique au départ étant donné qu'il y a eu quelques critiques contradictoires sur ce lodge, mais foncez:

- prix imbattable pour les dortoirs doubles: 40euros pour 2! (oui il s'agir bien de dortoirs avec lits doubles!). Très bonne literie, j'ai dormi comme un bébé. Boules quies indispensables cependant, il s'agit avant tout d'un dortoir!

- l'hôtel est très beau, une belle bâtisse refaite à neuf, avec des communs (salon, WC/SDB/restaurant) impeccables,

- la possibilité de se restaurer sur place à moindre cout, et le petit déjeuner très copieux (buffet à volonté) est inclus!

- internet gratuit,

- très proche d'accès du métro et près du centre.

Que du bon! J'y retournerai sans hésiter si je retourne à Londres.

N'hésitez pas à tenter l'expérience des dortoirs en lit double, cela peut paraitre bizarre, mais finalement c'est sympa!!

Nous avons réservé 4 nuits par internet à l'auberge de jeunesse Palmers Lodge ( 01/11/07), dans une chambre à deux ( twin ensuite) avec salle de bain,mon fils et moi même.Il était précisé la possibilité d'avoir des lits non superposés.

Quelle déception à notre arrivée : chambre - douche de 4-5 m2.. non fonctionnelle.., très bruyanteTrès mauvais rapport qualité prix.Nous ne sommes restés qu'une seule nuit..A éviter

Great Service and Good Night's Sleep!

My husband and I used hostelworld.com to book a private double room with a private bathroom for two nights for December 2007.

Our room was on the second floor, and the hostel had a lift, which was convenient considering how heavy our bags were. The room we were given was spacious, and was likely also used as a triple. We had a bunk bed (double bed on bottom, single bed on top) and a private bathroom. The bathroom was strange -- the sink, shower, and toilet were all in the same room, with no dividers - just a curtain around the shower faucet. When either of us took a shower, the entire bathroom was soaked - meaning you had to wait until it all dried out in order to use the sink or toilet -- very bizzare, but something we ran into 2 or 3 more times in Europe.

The hostel had free internet, but we could not access the wireless connection from our room. We had to go downstairs in order to use it.

The breakfast in the morning was not enjoyable -- we tried it the first day, and then went out for breakfast on our second day.

The hostel is near Swiss Cottage tube station, and is very close to the train station where you can take the chunnel train to Paris. It was convenient to get on the tube, but there is not a whole lot else around it -- just some shops and restaurants.

My friend and I spent 4 days here in April (2008). First, the location is ok - it's a bit far from downtown, though it's only a block from a tube stop (Swiss Cottage). The building itself is very pretty - I love old historical buildings, and this one feels as if you're in a 1930's boarding school. The staff is friendly. The rooms are small but comfortable, (though I think they're all a bit different); ours had a funny smell. Breakfast is simple - toast, cereal, coffee. The only thing I really didn't care for is the shared bathrooms (including shower rooms). I was startled one morning to step out of the shower and see a man in tighty whiteys drying his hair - not a pretty sight. All in all it was a cute hostel, but I would prefer single-sex bathrooms.
