Griffin House Holiday Apartments

It is no wonder that Griffin House is the top-rated apartment in London! The garden apartment is a perfect home away from home. We stayed with our adult son, and the accommodation was comfortable, clean, has a very pleasant ambience, and is very well appointed.

Ben and Nic welcomed us warmly and went far beyond the usual roles of accommodation owners to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. They helped us in so many ways, and showed great generosity in offering assistance.

The garden is lovely, and the opportunity to play with Barney the dog and one of the cats, and to welcome the two new residents (Thelma and Louise, elegantly accomodated chickens) made three Australians in London feel very much at home.

We cannot praise Ben and Nic and their welcoming apartment highly enough.

Our family of 5 (my husband and I with three children, ages 15, 12 and 9) stayed at Griffin House for 11 nights during the month of June. I chose the apartment because of the fabulous reviews on TripAdvisor.

Believe me, everything is as advertised! Our flight from the US arrived very early in the morning. Nic and Ben had suggested we hire a car to take us to the apartment from Gatwick, and even recommended a reputable service to do so. Everything went very well and Nic was there to warmly welcome us on a rainy, chilly day with a hot cup of tea and lots of attention from their wonderful dog, Barney. He was so kind and friendly that we felt right at home. They graciously let us stow our luggage while the apartment was being cleaned after the departure of earlier guests.

We rented the upper apartment which was lovely. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very nicely decorated. The down duvets on the beds were so cozy and we enjoyed having the extra space to stretch out and make ourselves at home. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need! The bathroom was very spacious, towels luxurious and we never ran out of hot water in the shower. It was a wonderful haven to return to at the end of our long days of sightseeing.

Nic and Ben were so nice! They were always friendly and gave lots of helpful advice on sites, restaraunts, etc. They saw we were packed lightly and offered to let me use their washer/dryer before we left for Paris for a few days in the middle of our London visit. They were even so kind as to let us store some of our things so we would not have to haul everything back and forth! When we returned to the apartment after our trip to Paris, my daughter and I both remarked that it felt like coming home! They were very helpful about calling and arranging rides for us the two times we needed to rent a car. Nic even called around and did a little "quote shopping" for me so I could get the best rate. They have perfected the art of being friendly, helpful, yet unobtrusive. I can't say enough about their hospitality!

I loved their beautiful garden and enjoyed looking out the upstairs window and admiring all of the lovely plants. Everything was very peaceful and relaxing.

It was a short walk to Stockwell where it was an easy ride on the tube to all of the sites in London. It was also a short walk up to Clapham where there were grocery stores and restaurants. It was a quiet neighborhood and we never felt threatened walking back and forth to the tube. We didn't stay out very late though. The one night we did, we took a cab back to the apartment. The apartment is in a Portuguese neighborhood and we had so much fun watching Euro 2008 soccer on television and enjoying the enthusiasm and celebration when Portugal played.

I give Ben, Nic, Barney and Griffin House my highest recommendation! I would definitely choose to stay there again any time I visit London. I have raved about them to my friends here in the US!

You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here, it is as good as everyone says!
