The best place in london
Four times i went to London , four times i visited the Science Museum. Its amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
It's free! It's fun!
It's free, so give it a go! Kids will love it, lots of interactive educational games for them to play. There's also a McLaren F1 car that Mika Hakkinen crashed at 200+mph, so if you've never seen a mangled F1 car close up, here is an opportunity!
The Science Museum also houses an IMAX screen, prices are a little steep (£7.50 for a 45min show), but for a one-off experience, it is worth a go. I watched the 3D Moon Walk narrated by Tom Hanks. If you book ahead via a site such as Lastminute, you may be able to obtain 2 for 1 tickets or similar (this is what I did). The money saved on this alone paid for my tube ticket for the day.
As per the previous review, you could spend all day, but I found half a day was enough for me, unless you really want to stop and look at every single exhibit. The only real disappointment for me was the "In Future" section, which was meant to be a glimpse into the future. Nothing worked!
Excellent -- don't miss it!
Wow -- I can't believe there aren't already loads of glowing reviews on this museum! We've been to science museums all over the U.S. and Europe and I'd say this is one of the best.
The museum is massive, with sections dedicated to aeronautics, medicine, space, computers, etc. Some of the displays are a bit dated (especially in the space section) but others are very descriptive and often include interactive exhibits. There are two hands-on children's sections in the basement...the one for little kids (up to age 5) is very well supervised and features a water experiment area that attracts quite a crowd. At the other end of the building you'll find the hands-on stuff for kids and grown-ups, with most experiments centred on motion and perception.
You could really spend the whole day just in this one museum. If it turns out that you disagree with our enthusiastic review, the Natural History and Victoria & Albert Museum are right next door. All three of the museums are worth a visit in their own right, and are free of charge.
FYI: There is a tube station right at the corner of the three museums. If you end up driving in, choose the metered parking on the road leading up to the science museum...£12.00 for four hours...the opposite side of the museum only offers 2 hour parking.
What I wish I hadn't done in London.
Wish we hadn't wasted time with the Science Museum! A few interesting exibits. The information wheel. The airospace exibit, but all in all not up to London standards.
What happened to this museum????
This museum used to be the best thing in London in my eyes but I visited a few months ago and was really upset empty galleries and generally empty compared to the past. They seem to be going down the line of creating the tate modern with some of their exhibits lots of visual but no sense to most.
Sorruy guys but not the best times at the momment.
