Definetely one of the best museums I've been to (and I have been to alot!). My main reason was to see the 17th,18th and 19th century dresses. They were fabulous, a great display and a good book (that I bought) to accompy my visit. The silver, stained glass and tapestries were also amazing. The tapestries were just as spectacular as the ones in the Vatican museums (that I saw the week after).

The V&A however is a bit of maze, I arrived by tube and dropped off my backpack in the clockroom on the ground floor. It took me half an hour to find it (not many stairs/lifts go down to that floor). Otherwise, a fabulous museum.

I have been to the Victoria @ Albert musuem twice now, along with the British Musuem,

The musuem of Natural History, The Musuem of London, the musuem inside Westminster

Abbey, Fenton House [Hampstead],..even the Musuem for Shakespeare! Of all these

wonderful gems, the V@A outshines them all!

It glitters with collections from all over the world, including tapestries, clothing, jewelery,

musical instruments, furnishings, sculptures, paintings, iconography, and much more.

It covers several centuries, as well as featuring collections from all around the globe.

They even have a lovely restaurant to dine in,.. a good place to catch your breath

after the musuem repeatedly takes your breath away!

The gift shop offers all sort of gifts in many tastes, styles and price ranges too.

The musuem is free to the public unless you attend a special exhibit requiring an

admission fee.

Be sure to include this fine musuem in your sightseeing plans. Give yourself an entire

afternoon [at least] to really drink it all in.

I really liked the V&A museum. There were a lot of really fascinating things in it and as a 20 year old male who isn't really into art, I found this museum to be great.

When you visit make sure you don't miss anything as there are tons of things that you may discover. It's really easy to follow and go in some sort of order, much easier to follow than the British Museum.

Highly recommended

The V&A may have been my favorite attraction in London, much to my own surprise. I expected an interesting, varied collection, but I had no notion of how engaging this collection would be. I loved this museum from my first few moments inside. Each piece- be it an iron railing, a salt shaker, a 17th century gown, you name it- is fascinating in its own right. I kept finding myself totally delighted by the next little thing. After my visit, my parents asked me, "What's in the V&A museum?" I was stumped by the question. All I could reply was, "Stuff." Stuff, indeed. Beautiful, historic, tremendously varied stuff. Oh, and a gorgeous cafe and the best museum shop I've ever visited. Please, if you enjoy museums, do not miss the V&A. I expect to go back time and time again, and I'm sure there will still always be more surprises waiting for the next visit.

This was a really interesting place. Although it is a museum of art and design, and I've been to plenty of those, I'm not sure that I've ever really been to something similar. It is such a huge museum that it would take ages to get through all the exhibits. I pretty much had a whole day so was only limited by my own endurance. I posted some more info and photos on my travel blog if you're interested: http://adams-travel-blog.blogspot.com/2009/07/london-3.html
