I would give it zero stars if I could

Luckily for Vinopolis, the lowest rating I can give them on this site is 1 out of 5, but it doesn't really deserve that.

Vinopolis felt like a bit like a communist-era wine tasting exhibition. Visitors wander haphazardly from queue to queue, waiting an age to be served the smallest sip of mediocre wine imaginable. Then it's off to the next queue for the next little sip. It's enough to drive one to drink!

I particularly liked the notice telling visitors not to use too much water when cleaning their glasses before the next tasting.

There was very little information about any of the wines and the staff were little help (with a few notable exceptions).

Rather spend the entrance money on a decent bottle of wine..

After the exhibit, we visited the restaurant for dinner, and had an excellent meal.. so visit the restaurant, but skip the exhibit at all costs!

I went to Vinopolis with a group of friends - we had Oyster card '2 for 1' offers (also exists on the trains - see the network rail website under 'offers'). This meant we only had to pay about £10 each. For that, we got an intro to wine tasting, 5 (small) tastings of our choice, and a gin cocktail.

The idea is a good one - a wine tasting museum by the region. However sadly Vinopolis doesnt quite work because the educational part of the museum/site is so badly laid out. Instead of travelling through the regions or countries in an enjoyable or logical way, we ended up walking in circles not able to read anything of much value, and then having to join queues to get to the table where wine bottles were laid out in a rather amateur way. It all felt more like a haphasard, hastily put together event, than a permanent museum.

Although I tasted some nice wine, and we had fun discussing them, I think Vinopolis should rethink the layout and displays or else charge a bit less.

I wouldnt rush to come here if I was a tourist - cheaper and more pleasant to buy some nice bottles and sit by the river and enjoy them with the nice view of London! Or at least try to get an offer or coupon so that you dont pay the full price.

Some of the wines are very commercial-- ie Kim Crawford, Yalumba, etc.. but this is a great place to try wines from all over the world. One of our favorites was a wine from Georgia (the country-- not US state) that was under $10 and tasted like Opus One.

Having read some of the earlier reviews on this site, I wasn't really expecting much from this tour however both myself and my partner were pleasantly surpised. The tour is very interesting and the wines on offer are extensive. We had the discovery package which also entitles you to absynthine, beer and whiskey tasting.

All the staff were extremley helpful and friendly and always on hand to offer advice on any wines etc. Overall this really is a good way to spend an afternoon in London!
