Olympic Shooting at London 2012
See which shooting competitors hold their nerve the best in this test of mental strength, pinpoint accuracy and steady hands.
The sport is divided into three separate disciplines according to the type of gun used: rifle, pistol and shotgun.
Each event is also split into separate contests depending on the type of bullet/pellet and target. These are:
- 10m, 25m and 50m pistol
- 10m air rifle, 50m rifle prone and 50m rifle in three positions
- as well as trap, double trap and skeet shotgun events.
The targets themselves also vary depending on the event. They can be stationary targets (pistol and rifle), turning targets (pistol) or moving clay "pigeons" (shotgun).
