Handel's first oratorio is an astonishing tour-de-force of vocal and orchestral virtuosity. Composed in 1707 towards the end of his early stay in Italy, this allegorical tale of the battle between Time, Enlightment and Pleasure for Beauty's Soul inspired Handel to produce his first masterpiece. Early Opera Company is joined by a stellar cast of soloists, led by one of the world's leading Handelians Rosemary Joshua.
