A middle-aged wife of a small town doctor is unaware that she is suffering from a terminal illness. She meets a younger man and is drawn to his youth and lack of complication. Together they enjoy a series of innocent meetings by the shores of the river, but fate plays a cruel trick, and their relationship ends in tragedy.
