John Travolta stars as a psychotic villain who hijacks a subway train and has to face down Denzel Washington if he wants to be successful. He demands a lucrative ransom from the state authorities and threatens to kill the hostages if he doesn't get what he wants. Denzel Washington plays the veteran rail centre worker who leads negotiations with Travolta but amid the showdown a question nags at authorities - with the gunmen and their hostages in a tunnel surrounded by police on all sides, how can they possibly escape?
