The Shawshank Redemption at London's Wyndham's Theatre 

The award-winning 1994 film Shawshank Redemption, starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, has become one of the most popular films of all time.

Now the much-loved story is coming to the stage at London's Wyndham's Theatre in an adaptation by Owen O'Neill and Dave Johns. The duo's new play is based on Stephen King's novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. It is directed by award-winning director and playwright Peter Sheridan.

Andy Dufresne is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover and sent to the notorious Shawshank Prison. He faces two life sentences and the soul-destroying routine of prison life.

Yet despite losing his family and liberty, Andy maintains a quiet courage and strength ensuring he never loses hope.

The Shawshank Cast: Kevin Anderson and Reg E Cathey 

The cast of The Shawshank Redemption is led by Kevin Anderson and Reg E Cathey.

Kevin Anderson appeared alongside Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy. On stage he has performed with Al Pacino in Salome; Albert Finney in Orphans; and as Biff in Death of a Salesman on Broadway in 1999.

Reg E Cathey is best known for his role as Norman Wilson in the hit TV series The Wire.

He has also appeared alongside Samuel L Jackson and Colin Farrell in S.W.A.T.; Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler in Airheads; and Christian Bale in American Psycho.
