Inherit The Wind: The Real-life Backstory

Inherit The Wind is based on the famous Scopes "Monkey" trial of 1925. A science teacher called John Scopes was accused of violating Tennessee state laws by teaching Charles Darwin's theory of evolution to his students.

In 1960, the play was made into a film starring Spencer Tracy and Gene Kelly.

The new stage production coincides with the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin's legendary book, The Origin of Species.
