High Definition / Low Resolution

An exhibition of two new series of paintings called 'Collateral' and 'hd/lr' by Pierre Imhof, based on satellite imaging, arial photography, mapping and television coverage of war and conflict recorded from the air. The canvasses show abstract versions of towns and conurbations with viewfinders and target signs on top of certain shapes. Some spots of bright colour recall fireworks or explosions. Like most of the televised footage of Helmand Province or Iraq, the beauty and serenity of the works belie the horror and suffering at ground level resulting from so-called precision bombing and surgical air strikes.
