Tudor Firepower

This event is part of Greenwich's weekend of events to mark the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne. You will meet some 'real Tudors' in full period costume and find out about Tudor arms and armour from bows and arrows to early guns. Children can try on suits of armour and helmets like the young King Henry wore. Adults can dress up too!. Longbows, cross-bows, muskets and cannons will all be on show. You can even fire our paintball cannon and find out more about Tudor times in a day long programme of talks and demonstrations. Children can play 'Hunt the Henry' around the Museum while the Tudor origins of the Royal Arsenal can be discovered in the adjacent Greenwich Heritage Centre. Museum experts will be giving lectures on the origins of the Arsenal and the famous Moorfield's Gun on display at Firepower - during the gun's founding in 1716 there was a great explosion which led to gun founding being moved from the City of London to Woolwich.
