Mr Gee + Zena Edwards + Sarah Moule

Mr Gee: From humble beginnings as a hip-hop DJ, Mister Gee honed his spoken word skills as the host of the renowned performance poetry club Brix-tongue and is now one of the stars of the UK poetry scene. He has performed at the New York Nuyorican Poets Café and the Black Lily night in Philadelphia (home to Jill Scott and the Roots), as well as at the Edinburgh Festival. He runs workshops in schools and his album Poetry in the Key of Gee was released to critical acclaim. Mister Gee was a co-winner of a Sony Gold Award for Radio as the resident poet on the Russell Brand Show on BBC Radio 2, and is the resident poet of the hit West-End musical Into The Hoods. Zena Edwards: North London born and raised, Zena Edwards has been honing her craft for more than 15 years, creating poetry and spoken word that reflects her diverse interests and influences. After discovering and immersing herself in the wider London spoken word scene, she quickly became a noted figure on the circuit and has since performed at Glastonbury and the London Jazz Festival, in addition to appearances at international events, from the URB Hip Hop Festival in Helsinki to the MEP International Literature Festival in Amsterdam. Sarah Moule: With a voice described as "truly outstanding" by JazzUK magazine and a recent album entitled A Lazy Kind Of Love that was hailed as, "a little treasure" by The Observer and, "worth anybody's money" by BBC Radio 2's Russell Davis, Sarah Moule is one of the country's most exciting up-and-coming jazz singers. Here representing the more conventional aspect of the jazz vocal tradition, she will be the featured vocalist with the Jazz Verse Jukebox house band, singing a collection of material from her back catalogue as well as a few old favourites. Featuring: Hollie McNish, Jumoke Fashola. Hollie McNish: A stand-up poet who draws her inspiration as much from everyday life as from other artists and musicians, Hollie McNish recently took home the first prize in the 2009 UK Slam Farrago Championships and has performed alongside the likes of Kat Francois, Richard Blackwood and Serenah Cole. As well as appearing at this year's Glastonbury Festival, she's finding the time to stop off at Ronnie's Bar to let her considerable talents loose on the Jazz Verse Jukebox audience. Jumoke Fashola: Jumoké has sung most musical forms from Handel to Gershwin to Gospel, at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and the London Arena. Her solo repertoire comprises an edgy blend of jazz, R&B and soul, eloquently expressed and dynamically delivered. Time Out Magazine describes her as a "Head-spinningly versatile singer". She is a graduate of Southbank Centre's Voicelab Pulse.
