Run Wild with ZSL London Zoo's Animal Adventure
A new exhibit at ZSL London Zoo (Zoological Society London) opens just in time for the Easter holidays this year.
The Animal Adventure area has been built on the site of the world's first children's zoo and allows kids to get up close and personal with a range of different animals.
Created by world-class designers who enlisted the help of children for ideas and testing, this £2.3 million exhibit offers a wonderful experience for young and old alike.
London Zoo'z Four Zones for Fun and Learning
Understanding how children see the world, learn and have fun has allowed us to create something truly magical and foster the conservationists of the future
– Phil Holmes, Animal Adventure exhibit developerAnimal Adventure will bring kids as young as three face-to-face with red pandas, prairie dogs, porcupines and a host of other interesting animals.
They will be entertained by and led through this interactive exhibit by colourful cartoon characters.
Four different zones will encourage children and adults from all walks of life to explore and discover nature.
- Tree Zone is a climbing adventure area where you can scale climbing frames to meet a family of coatis and their cape crested porcupine neighbours
- Root Zone allows children to tunnel underground to see how aardvarks and other subterranean animals live
- Splash Zone teaches kids about wildlife in the water
- Touch Zone gives you the chance to get close enough to pat alpacas as well as resident llamas, Perry and Beegee.
London Zoo: Introducing a New Generation to Nature

By having children help design this new exhibit, London Zoo has made sure it's tailor-made for maximum enjoyment.
Providing children with the chance to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds, smells and experiences of life in the animal kingdom, Animal Adventure will introduce a new generation to the wonder of nature and promote a message about conservation.
Exhibit developer Phil Holmes says, "We love involving our visitors when we design new exhibits, it just so happened this time it involved story telling, role play and even a bit of singing!
"Understanding how children see the world, learn and have fun has allowed us to create something truly magical and foster the conservationists of the future."
